Have you been intentional with how to create a culturally responsive Tier 1 system? This workshop will examine the common missteps schools often take when implementing PBIS and will focus on using guides and tools that can help ensure your PBIS system are achieving high results for all students. Participants will leave with an action plan that can guide the PBIS leadership teams to roll out a responsive system for the 2022-2023 school year. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nExamine the common missteps schools often make in Tier 1 PBIS implementation.\nLearn about and practice using tools to create culturally responsive PBIS systems.\nCreate an action plan that you can use right away to improve your outcomes.\n\n  \n9:00-12:00 PBIS in the Classroom: Creating A Trauma-Responsive\, More Equitable Classroom – Jessica Swain-Bradway\, Ph.D. \nThis session covers some of the basics of how to apply a “trauma lens” in the classroom.  It will cover high leverage practices\, and how to use universal design\, and positive behavior supports\, to create a very dignified\, predictable environment that centers students. We will then discuss critical features of Tier 2 interventions\, systems\, and data to maximize student outcomes with interventions. \nObjectives. Participants will: \n\nUnderstand and demonstrate knowledge of the foundation of a solid Tier 1 PBIS System as a key aspect of Tier 2 success\, and then\,\nDescribe key features of readiness related to systems\, data\, & practices\, and\nGain helpful resources and examples to support implementation of Tier 2 systems\, data\, and practices.\n\n  \n9:00-12:00 Building and Sustaining Equity and Inclusion Through MTSS – Bridget Walker\, Ph.D. & Jerome Hunter. MIT \nEquity must be embedded in the MTSS framework which\, at its core\, provides a set of systems\, structures\, and practices to support educators in building a positive\, equitable\, and inclusive learning environment for all. We will explore key aspects of equity within MTSS and introduce participants to the Anti-Racist Inquiry Process\, which is a framework to support personal reflection\, growth\, and development of adults to be actively anti-racist educators. For the purpose of this workshop\, clinicians are considered school social workers\, school psychologists\, school counselors\, deans and community mental health clinicians based in the school setting. These clinicians play an integral role in helping build\, support\, and sustain a MTSS framework in schools and districts. A critical paradigm shift occurs within the MTSS framework\, transitioning the clinician role from supporting individual students to setting up structures and systems to help benefit and support all students. In this workshop we will take a dive into the clinicians role at all three tiers.  \nSession Objectives \n\nLearners will leave with tangible tools to take back to their buildings for each tier of support. \nLearners will also leave with a list of resources to help support this paradigm shift within their role.

SUMMARY:(2-Day Virtual Training) Initial Restorative Justice Practices
DESCRIPTION:2- Day Virtual Training\nMonday\, March 12th & 19th\,  2021\n8:30 am – 3:00 pm\n12 clock hours available\nRestorative practices help to build community\, celebrate accomplishments\, transform conflict\, rebuild relationships that have been harmed\, and reintegrate students who have been suspended or expelled. Restorative Justice is focused on the belief that those individuals causing harm can work together with those affected by the harm to repair it and that this collaboration leads to true accountability. Both the theory and practice of Restorative Justice emphasize: (1) identifying the harm\, (2) involving all stakeholders\, and (3) true accountability— repairing the harm and addressing its causes.  A restorative model fits well within the multi-tiered framework of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and is at the heart\, a prevention based approach. Come learn more about how to use PBIS in your school and district. \nCourse Objectives: \n\nProvide an overview of the Restorative Justice model in school settings\nUnderstand the theory of Restorative Justice\nDescribe how Restorative Justice fits within the PBIS Framework\nOverview the readiness steps to implementing Restorative Justice\nBuild the needed skills to begin implementing Restorative Justice at the Tier 1 level within classrooms or online\nUsing classroom circles in person and online.\nCreating shared values and guideline\nAddressing misbehavior with a restorative approach

SUMMARY:Advanced Restorative Justice
DESCRIPTION:Advanced Restorative Justice\nMonday\, February 8th 8:30-3:00 PST \nFor graduates of Initial Restorative Justice Training or those already using basic Restorative Practices\, this advanced workshop will focus on high level violations that may result in a suspension\, expulsion\, re-entry or major repair. We will model a circle for a large harm issue involving multiple students in which parents and community members are also brought in and show the re-entry circle process after a student is returning from suspension. We will also introduce you to another line of restorative questioning that comes from the practitioner Dominic Barr. It helps to show that there are multiple avenues to bring about change. Time for problem solving current issues with restorative practices in your school will also be provided. \nPresenters: Carol Frodge and Lori Lynass
