SUMMARY:Advanced Restorative Justice
DESCRIPTION:Advanced Restorative Justice\nMonday\, February 8th 8:30-3:00 PST \nFor graduates of Initial Restorative Justice Training or those already using basic Restorative Practices\, this advanced workshop will focus on high level violations that may result in a suspension\, expulsion\, re-entry or major repair. We will model a circle for a large harm issue involving multiple students in which parents and community members are also brought in and show the re-entry circle process after a student is returning from suspension. We will also introduce you to another line of restorative questioning that comes from the practitioner Dominic Barr. It helps to show that there are multiple avenues to bring about change. Time for problem solving current issues with restorative practices in your school will also be provided. \nPresenters: Carol Frodge and Lori Lynass

SUMMARY:Restorative Practices for the Classroom Virtual Training
DESCRIPTION:There is a growing body of research supporting the effectiveness of restorative practices in classrooms. Benefits of using restorative practices include a reduction in behavioral referrals to the office\, disproportionality in discipline and increased instructional time. This interactive virtual training will provide you with the tools needed to start running restorative practices in your classroom. The main focus will be on running community-building circles designed to create positive connections and relationships. Circle dialogue is a fundamental element of restorative dialogue. We will also overview how to have restorative conversations for minor level conflict. \nObjectives: \n\nLearn how to introduce and lead circle dialogues.\nLearn how to transition into and out of “circle time” the roles between circle keeper and teacher.\nUnderstand the importance of focusing on student connection.\nGain tools to address minor level conflicts and behavioral errors.\n\nPresenter:\nLori Lynass\, Ed.D and Angela Brooks Ed. D \n3 clock hours available
